I learned If you find boring material put it into Haiku Deck. Then to make it interactive you put it into NearPod to make it engaging. Great advice.
Authentic Performance Assessment 3 P's 3P Product, Performance, Project
We discussed the important elements listed below of an authentic product, performance or project.
Understanding by Design. What is.....
1. Real World Goal
2. Role
3. Audience
4. Standards for Success
5. Product/Performance
Performance is the most important.
We need to assume real world scenario with real world roles.
Real world challenges, help engage higher order thinking, critical thinking etc..
The product reflects what a professional would produce.
Rubric Scoring does this and is transparent. Rubrics clarify expectations, help prevent bias and can give positive feedback using rubric even though there was nothing positive,
A rubric is learning standards, a way to determine educational priorities. It is a way to apply the same high expectations to every student; then more students will achieve those higher expectations, or at least get closer to achieving these expectations, than if the expectations were lower.
I learned we should never get emotionally attached to any app or device. It may not always be around.
For example we were previewing some ePortfolios and the conversation and advice came up in our group of banking all your portfolio materials in the clouds.......CSD Docs, Sound Cloud, Cindy's cloud, etc... THEN
put into an app like 3 Ring, or other Portfolio App. The Info will still be there even if the app disappears.
Each group was assigned to evaluate and compare the pro's and con's of 5 ePortfolios examples.
